Do you mean things like #444666 and #444676? As far as I can see, there
are two use cases here: People using acpid's scripts without changing
them and people who love to mess around with their system. AFAICS just
doing rm_conffile would only hit the former group (as modified files
will stay 'round).
Those are probably more likely not to be able to debug the resulting
behaviour changes, so this seems like a less than ideal solution.

Is there a reason not to continue shipping these files and then do the
debconf dance post-lenny?
