Actually it appears that the hardware itself handles the long press
(this switches off the machine with no shutdown). So, the short press
event should just be ignored like in the past.
In particular, I sometimes suspend my laptop with Fn-F1, and want
to wake it up with the power button. But in addition to wake up the
machine, it also does a shutdown immediately after. This makes no
sense at all!
