This is not likely to be an acpid issue. It could be a window
manager issue, an acpi-support issue, or a kernel issue. Here are some
things to try:

1. Try using kacpimon to verify that lid close/open events are coming
in. See the man page for kacpimon. If the events aren't coming in,
you've got a kernel issue.

2. If you've got lid close/open events coming in, then you'll need to
check and see if your window manager is responsible for handling lid
open/close. Some are, some aren't. If yours is, and you've got it
configured properly, then you may have a window manager issue.

3. Lastly, take a look in /etc/acpi/events (see the man page for acpid
for more info). Is there a lid closed configuration file in there (e.g.
/etc/acpi/events/lidbtn)? Is it properly connected to a script (e.g.
/etc/acpi/lid.sh)? Is that script working? If there is a broken script
or config file in here, then you've likely got an acpi-support issue.
