Dear Maintainer,
I have encountered the same issue that Gijs Hillenius has documented in
this bug report. On Tuesday June 24th 2014 I dist-upgraded several
packages on a Debian laptop, including acpi-support, acpi-support-base,
and acpi-fakekey (from 0.141-2 to 0.141-3). I closed the laptop that
night and discovered the next morning that the system was still running
and had not in fact suspended. After looking around online I came across
this bug report and contacted Gijs.
Gijs suggested that I downgrade and hold the acpi-support package at
version 0.141-2, as that resolved the issue for him. I did so, but I
also had to downgrade and hold the acpi-support-base package at version
0.141-2 as well in order to restore proper sleep/suspension of my system
on lid close. I was able to leave the acpi-fakekey package at 0.141-3
without issue. (Note that I also tried just downgrading
acpi-support-base while upgrading acpi-support and acpi-fakekey to
0.141-3 to see if the problem lies solely with acpi-support-base; this
did not resolve the issue, leading me to believe that the issue involves
both packages).
For what it's worth, here's the relevant section of dmesg detailing the
events that occur when I close and open the laptop lid with both
acpi-support and acpi-support-base at 0.141-3:
