What's more distressing is how this knocks out other programs,
(severity=critical)
to the bewilderment of users.  Wishlist against mod-utils or whatever
it's called?

Also the alsa docs should say what one needs to do for kernel 2.6...
and for 2.4/2.6 on same disk folks.
