I don't agree. Usually one prefers installing a prebuilt package of=20
modules, anyway (if a matching package for ones kernel package is=20
available). So size does not matter. Also time is negligible, compared=20
to the point that everybody accept control freaks don't know=20
_absolutely exactly_ which modules need to be compiled for their=20
specific sound card, e.g. I certainly would not know and I am above the=20
average user.
During an installation this is one of several questions one has to click=20
through, and I think most people will prefer not being asked. This is=20
something for control freaks. The default works for everybody, without=20
much difference. That is why it should be low by definition, and not=20
medium.=20

I _totally_ disagree here. Imagine a user changing the volume some weeks=20
or so after installation and who wonders that it is not staying the way=20
she/he set it up after reboot, and possibly not knowing why. This=20
mostly affects newbies. Please set the default to "always". This would=20
be a sane behaviour. Letting the user change the volume, but not=20
storing this change is feels strange to most users (usuabilty).=20
"autosave once..." makes sense in _a few_ cases as I earlier pointed=20
out, e.g. an admin setting up the volume for its users, however an=20
admin is not a newbie.
