Package: alsa-base
Version: 1.0.7-2
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

alsa doesn't see the sound card even so the config util sees and
configures it, additionally the i810_audio module is beeing blacklisted

with the current packages all applications (xmms/mpg123,xine, mplayer,
gnome volume-contol, etc) think they can play, but no sound is beeing
produced.

Installing the old 1.0.6-4 alsa-utils and alsa-base fixes the problem.

Good to hear. It sounds as if the problem was a local one. Of course,
if you find evidence that there is a packaging problem then reopen the
report and provide details.
