[Pkg-alsa-devel] Bug#257337: /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base: "install snd-pcm: modprobe snd-pcm" causes infinite loop

Package: alsa-base
Version: 1.0.5a-1
Severity: important

/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base contains the line

install snd-pcm: /sbin/modprobe snd-pcm && /sbin/modprobe snd-pcm-oss

which causes modprobe to say "oh, in order to install snd-pcm i need
to first run sh which will call myself with the exact same arguments",
causing an infinite loop.

Removing that file seems to let modprobe do the right thing.

Thank you!
