actually not: I mean, during the boot the ALSA modules aren't loaded,
but when I login in GNOME, snd_pcm_oss and snd_mixer_oss are
automatically loaded, resulting in two mixers (OSS and ALSA).
IMHO it is something linked to udev, as since I eliminated the devfs
support in my 2.6.9-rc4 kernel I don't have anymore the same /dev/ style
I had before (I mean, symlink /dev/cdrom, /dev/cd-rw and so on), even
using the devfs.rules for udev.
Could it be possible that having the /dev/mixer node causes the load of
snd_mixer_oss modules? And the same for snd_pcm_oss...
Again, why simply not compiling OSS modules? Because I tried deleting
the OSS modules from /lib/modules/2.6.9-rc4/ and in GNOME I have just
the ALSA mixer (as I want).
Or is this a problem of someother package? Like udev?
Thx, bye,
Gismo / Luca
