Package: alsa-utils
Version: 0.9.8-1
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss
Hi!
I tried to upgrade my laptop with the recent alsa.
Unfortunatly, when installing alsa-base, the installation hangs at
"Storing ALSA Configuration" (not a quote)
"top"ing the system says, that alsactl take 100% of the cpu. Killing it,
makes the installation aborts.
I set the level to "causes serious data loss" as this behaviour also
occurs, when the system is shut down, making a clean reboot (esp. remote)
or shutdown impossible, which might leads to data-loss on not journaling
fs. (Need to hard-reset with rw-mounted root-partiotion. ouch.)
I also tried to invoke alsactl manuallay, with the -d switch on.
Regardless of the command I get NO debug . NO BYTE of output at all.
But it shows the same behavoiur (hanging, taking all cpu)
If you need more infos, please contact me.
