Severity: important

In the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base, the following option is
used to prevent snd-bt87x from grabbing index 0:

options snd-bt87x index=-2

This isn't working for me. I had to replace the index value
with 1 to have it working.

This option only has an effect if you are using recent drivers,
i.e., drivers from an alsa-modules package built from current
alsa-source, or perhaps drivers from one of the latest kernel
image packages.

The code to support this feature has not been added to the ALSA
drivers that are included in current Debian 2.6.8 kernel images.
If you want the code to be included then you could go and nag
the maintainers of kernel-source-2.6.8 to implement #291127.

Or you could switch to a distribution such as Ubuntu whose
developers fix bugs within days, in contrast with Debian whose
developers generally fix bugs only after months or years.
