Hi,
I have a problem regarding alsa and an Echoaudio Indigo Soundcard. I
searched the web and experimented several days but weren't able to
solve it. Therefore I'm relying on you.
I have a Dell Inspiron 500m running Debian Sid on Kernel 2.6.10 and
Alsa 1.08.
I managed to load the Soundcard driver (snd_indigo) and the blue LED
is on (after loading the driver).
I'm nevertheless unable to use the sound in any way (for example
alsaplayer), every attempt to play a file with alsaplayer or xmms
results in the following error:
ALSA lib conf.c:2792:(snd_config_hook_load)
"/usr/share/alsa/cards/Echoaudio Indig.conf" is not a word
ALSA lib conf.c:2672:(snd_config_hooks_call) function
snd_config_hook_load_for_all_cards returned error: Invalid argument
ALSA lib pcm.c:1947:(snd_pcm_open_conf) Invalid type for PCM default
definition (id: default, value: cards.pcm.default)
snd_pcm_open: Invalid argument (default)
Failed to initialize plugin!
Failed to register plugin: /usr/lib/alsaplayer/output/libalsa_out.so
Failed to load output plugin "alsa". Trying defaults.

I looked at the "/usr/share/alsa/cards" directory and there is nothing
like an "Echoaudio Indig.conf", nor anywhere else on my disk.
Another strange thing is, that alsaconf does not seem to find my card.
When I start alsaconf it is unloading all my sound-modules - but finds
none.
A manual "modprobe snd-indigo" loads the sound module without any
problems (except for not functioning properly ,)).
I hope you can help.
Thank you
Martin Apel
