This is known bug #284181.

The solution, for now, is to install the alsa-source package and build and install an
alsa-modules package for your kernel using the make-kpkg utility (provided in the
kernel-package package).  See the README.Debian in the alsa-source package for
instructions.

The latest 2.4.27 kernel for 386 is provided in the kernel-image-2.4.27-2-386 package. 
Later this week (or perhaps sometime later -- it depends on how fast the ftp masters are
to let the new package into the archive) you will be able to download an
alsa-modules-2.4.27-2-386 package that goes with it.
