Package: libasound2
Version: 1.0.10+1.0.11rc1-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

this changelog entry is very confusing:

alsa-lib (1.0.10-2) unstable; urgency=low
  [ Thomas Hood ]
  * Remove obsolete .asoundrc example for enabling dmix. dmix is now
enabled by default for all sound cards that support it

Since dmix does software mixing it does not make sense for a soundcard
to support it. I suggest to replace this sentence with this one,
taken from http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php?page=DmixPlugin :

NOTE: For ALSA 1.0.9rc2 and higher you don't need to setup dmix. Dmix
is enabled as default for soundcards which don't support hw mixing.

It would have saved me hours a wild goose hunting for a working dmix
config.
