Package: alsa-utils
Version: 1.0.10-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
The alsa utilities in this package do not work without /dev/snd
which alsa-base provides.
Therefore, alsa-base should be Depends not Recommends.

Thanks for the report.
/dev/snd is not necessarily provided by alsa-base. On a udev system, udev creates
/dev/snd when an ALSA module is loaded. It is true that alsa-base configures the
loading of ALSA modules; however, this configuration is not something upon which
alsa-utils directly Depends.
