[Pkg-alsa-devel] Bug#357106: alsaconf modifies modules.conf
unrelatedly

Package: alsa-utils
Version: 1.0.8-4
Severity: grave
(note, I'm running Sarge)
Running alsaconf, my modules.conf was modified:
-alias net-pf-10 off # IPv6
+# alias net-pf-10 off # IPv6
It did ask for modification of modules.conf, but not to actually enable
IPv6 on my machine, something some services over here break under.
alsaconf should definitely not modify a configuration file with totally
unrelated modifications, without very clearly asking to.
Also, there is no dry-run option what would list the proposed
modifications, and alsaconf is very chatty. While nice, in most cases I
guess it can be much less so, and actually with only slight
modifications cause sound to work out-of-the-box: autodetected at
bootup, without writing anything to a configuration file?
Thanks,
--Jeroen
PS: I *do* like alsaconf, because it actually makes sound config very
trivial (if you happen to know about alsaconf), thanks for that :)
