Package: alsa-base
Version: 1.0.13-1
Versions of dependencies of alsa-base:
ii linux-sound-ba 1.0.13-1
ii lsof 4.77.dfsg.1-3
ii module-init-to 3.2.2-3
ii modutils 2.4.27.0-6
Audio playback with ´SoundBlaster Live! 24 Bit´-HD audio soundcard and
´snd-ca0106´ module works fine in Etch. But it is still not possible to
record anything. Although some improvements have been made already. In
alsamixer there are several capture-channels visible: IEC958 i, IEC958
o, AC97 in, SRC out , i2s in and i2s mixer. It is possible to choose one
of the channels using the arrow-keys and space, but it is not possible
to raise the volume of the selected capture-channel. One of the
playback-channels is called Mic/Line. This can be used to toggle between
´Line in´ and ´Mic in´.
´Gnome Sound Recorder´ (GSR) shows the following sources to be selected
from under ´Record from input´: IEC958 in, IEC958 out, AC97 in, SRC out,
i2s in and i2s mixer out.
The source-selection made in alsamixer overrides the selection from GSR.
When there is another source selected in alsamixer while GSR is opened
there are as a strange side effect all the available audio-sources under
´Record from input´ listed twice. When this is repeated, then all
sources are visible three times, and so on.
When I choose ´Open Volume Control´ from the ´File´ menu only ´CAPTURE
feedback´ is shown there under ´Playback´; under ´Options´ there can
once again be chosen between ´Line in´ and ´Mic in´.
All the files created when trying to record something contain only
silence.
I was unsure whether to file this against ´alsa-driver´, but did not do
so, because this is a non existent package.
The Kernel version is 2.6.16-2-k7.
