I agree!

It is just not reproducible, but I remember seeing that message on
vt running an app I don't remember.

I can't find something similar in the source code of alsa-lib:

$grep -r "underrun\," *
test/pcm.c:                     printf("Can't recovery from \
underrun, prepare failed: %s\n", snd_strerror(err));

So forwarding this bug upstream doesn't make sense :(
Please give us a hint to reproduce it.
