As the previous message from the submitter shows 
this fault happens when mutt is called with "aoss" preloaded.

The problem may be that alsa-oss redefines mmap. Perhaps it should be
redefining mmap2.

I attempted further diagnosis and found minor incompatabilities
between declarations of _poll, _mmap and _fopen in alsa/alsa-oss.c
and the corresponding declarations in /usr/include/. Perhaps these are
the source of the problem.

Unfortunately, I could not pin down the precise function in
libaoss.so that causes the segfault.
