On Fri, 31 Aug 2007 the mental interface of

>/etc/init.d/alsa does not support 'start' or 'stop'. I noticed this

Please do not use alsaconf. Restart your machine or just do
# /etc/init.d/udev restart && udevtrigger
alsaconf is buggy as buggy can be and it is not needed in lenny/sid
anymore. udev will configure the driver devices.
IMHO the only reason to use alsaconf is to configure a 2nd/3rd
whatever soundcard which can be done by a small not so overloaded
script and faster by hand manipulating /etc/modprobe.d/ entries.
Second the old ISA Cards........
I propose to distribute alsaconf in
/usr/share/doc/alsa-utils/alsaconf/ and explain user the deprecated use
of that script via debconf.
Jordi, what do you think?

Obviously the human brain works like a computer.
Since there are no stupid computers humans can't be stupid.
There are just a few running with Windows or even CE ;-)
