[Pkg-alsa-devel] Bug#458010: alsa-base: Alsa fails to find ES1988 soundcard, even though the kernel module snd_maestro3 is loaded.

Alsa fails to find ES1988 soundcard on Debian kernel 2.6.23-1-686, even
though the kernel module snd_maestro3 is  automatically loaded.  No sound
can be played through alsa.  Works fine on Debian kernel 2.6.22-3-686 and
lower.  The laptop is a Compaq Evo N600c.
