This patch must be rejected, because not all hda-intel users have this model. Furthermore, not all hda-intel users require the position_fix parameter.

Thanks,

Subject: [Pkg-alsa-devel] Bug#407252: alsa-base: Intel High Definition Audio (82801G, ICH7 Family) - headphones jack doesn't work

Package: alsa-base
Version: 1.0.13-3
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 (E1505) laptop with this audio card:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)

By default, the phonejack detection doesn't work, but I found a working
solution at http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=1183761&postcount=3
which consists of adding the following line in
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base:

------------8<-------------
options snd-hda-intel model=z71v position_fix=1
------------8<-------------

After adding this and removing and reloading the module (snd_hda_intel), the
headphones jack detection works fine.

Please add this to the default alsa-base modprobe configuration file and
allow it to propagate into Etch since we could have several bug reports
about this issue once Etch is released (this is the reason behind the
inflated severity).
