I assume this is an error in alsa-lib's configure script:
AC_DEFINE_UNQUOTED(ALSA_PLUGIN_DIR, "plugindir", [directory containing ALSA add-on modules])
ALSA_PLUGIN_DIR="$plugindir"AC_SUBST(ALSA_PLUGIN_DIR)
That should read $plugindir, obviously.

We'll pass --with-plugindir for now, and will try to get a patch
accepted upstream.
