Sound in the G4 QuickSilver with the Tumbler chipset does not work properly
due to alsa.
I have this problem for about two years, and I do not understand how it is
possible that it is still unresolved.

Headphone detection does not work properly, so when you plug headphones, the
speaker sounds (It thinks that there are not headphones plugged). But when
there are not any headphones plugged, it thinks that headphones are plugged,
and the speaker does not work.

I submitted several bug reports about this.

In the past I solved this problem opening alsamixer and disabling
headphones, headphones detection and automute, and enabling the speaker
switches manually everytime.

But now I can not disable the headphone detection switch so SOUND IS NOT
WORKING OK FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS due to such a simple thing, and now i can not
get sound working.

What should be a correct bug report for this, its a failure in the kernel
driver, in alsa-base...
