I tried the latest version in sid but it did not work.  I am using the 
alsa-driver-1.0.14rc3 package and I have attached the patch that I 
needed to apply to it to get it to work.   I am also using 
alsa-lib-1.0.14rc3 and alsa-utils-1.0.4rc2.  But it should be noted I 
tried the package in sid first before compiling and applying this patch.
