It can't ;) Once ago it happens only with rhythmbox and now with

Not reproducable on Mac G4 Hardware. Well mine uses
aoa-fabric-layout with the tas flavour. Yours must be the toonie
flavour, isn't it?

44100 is the default ;)

Hmm, I tried to check
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?query=Rhythmbox
but doesn't found something similar in the list of thousands of
bugs. Rhythmbox looks like it seems to be alpha?
Before we reassign a bug 'cause out of knowledge, the first step is
to check upstream for that problem.
IMHO the driver aos-toonie doesn't seem to be designed for rhytmbox.
It must be the other way round ;) And I-Tunes, an Apple app is the
paragon for rhythmbox.....
I tend you to discuss this with gstreamer guys.
