Hello Jordi,

Blast. That worked!

Note: the information needed to build alsa is out of date in the
README.Debian.

what I did:

sudo aptitude install module-assistant alsa-source
sudo m-a prepare
sudo m-a build alsa
sudo m-a install alsa

sudo alsaconf

(but this didn't get debian sound system working so then I rebooted).
