alsa-oss exists also and can be used by some of them. You are just
trading a shared ressource (alsa/dmix) against an exclusive one (oss
emu).

Remove that code from alsa-base. oss-compat exists and according to the
description it should be used as a dependency in packages which needs
it. Also the user is always free to load them on there own.
