[Pkg-alsa-devel] Why does alsa-utils depend on python?

Hi,
i am trying to build debian image for embedded system. The problem is
when i install alsa-utils it also installs python as dependency and
the image is too big.

Is there any reason why alsa-utils depends on python? I checked the
source tarball for alsa-utils and havent found anything related to
python. Also other linux systems do not need python as dependency
for this package.

Is this bug? Could this be fixed or at least somehow workarounded?
