My /dev/snd/ directory just lists the following:

rrs at champaran:/lib/modules/2.6.29-custom/kernel/sound$ ls /dev/snd/
seq  timer

So, I guess it is not even reaching till udev.
Who is supposed to create the controlC[0-9] devices ?
