Package: libasound2
Version: 1.0.16-2

According to the Debian Wiki, libasound2 has automatically enabled
the dmix plugin for sound cards which do not support hardware sound mixing
since version 1.0.10-2. (See http://wiki.debian.org/ALSA under the heading
"Sharing a card among multiple processes".) Well, here we are at version
1.0.16-2, and dmix was not set up during installation. I installed on an
IBM ThinkPad 600, which has a built-in CS4237B sound chip, which does not
support hardware mixing. The wiki refers to an example file,
/usr/share/doc/libasound2/examples/asound.conf_dmix, which can serve as
an example of how to configure dmix manually, but the entire examples
directory no longer exists under /usr/share/doc/libasound2.

Please either change the wiki to document how to set this up manually,
or, better yet, fix the regression of a previous feature of libasound2.
