Package: libasound2-plugins
Version: 1.0.19-2

No matter what I try, alsa does not pick up the pulse plugin:

$ cat /etc/asound.conf
pcm.pulse {
    type pulse
}

ctl.pulse {
    type pulse
}

$ aplay -Dpulse /usr/share/sounds/phone.wav
ALSA lib pcm.c:2075:(snd_pcm_open_conf) type is not defined
aplay: main:590: audio open error: No such file or directory
