[Pkg-alsa-devel] Bug#544856: alsa-utils: Save and restore levels over hibernate

Package: alsa-utils
Version: 1.0.20-3
Severity: wishlist
My laptop doesn't save and restore mixer levels automatically over a hibernate
sequence, which means that every time I wake it up I have to manually unmute
my sound card and restore the PCM output level from 35% to something audible.
At least, it didn't, until I installed the script attached into
/etc/pm/power.d/90-local-alsa that takes advantage of the
/etc/init.d/alsa-utils script to save and restore all sound levels for me
automatically during the hibernate and restore process.
I think it would be nice to provide this facility to all users, since while a
significant number of laptops are (probably) smarter than mine, I can't see
how this can actually hurt to have this happen.
Regards,
Daniel
