So you have to set your whatever sound daemon you use correctly.
This can be esound, pulseaudio or maybe jackd. AFAIK there is a
soundcontrol module in gnome 's options (gnome-control-center) where
you can settle that.

Well, alsa is loaded _before_ your sound daemon (server) starts. So
a reload will cover your sound daemon.

It is not a point of loading. It is indeed a point of Users setings.
