Using sidux distro, fully upgraded. Sound card Sound Alive 5.1, driver emu10k1
There is no sign of alsaconf in your resent debian packages. In my case something went wrong and the alsa conf I still had could not fix the issue. It was only after installing the tar files from alsa that included alsaconf that the issue of no sound was resolved. I did not check thoroughly what other files were missing as after installing everything alsa had fixed the issue. I would think that aslaconf would be a very necessary part of alsa-utils to include since that it what configures your sound card automatically. Until this issue is fixed I will be pinning alsa to protect myself.
I apologize if this is not the proper method of passing on this type of information as I am still very new to proper proticals.
