Internal microphone does not work on Asus EEE 1011px, arecord records just a noise. I have quite minimal installation, just plain icewm + few hacks, no pulseaudio, no gnome.
It is probably a general Linux problem, but neither of following links solved my problem:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/580183 (I know it is 1001 not 1011px)
Interestingly, this netbook is suposed to be supported by Canonical and is claimed to be available with Ubuntu
(but definitely not in my country :-(( )
If this info helps:
- the netbook has only one slot for mic/headphone
- audacity does not alow to use the mic at all
- as I do not have any external mic, I have not tested it
Alsa bug tracking site does not seem to be up and running, so I am asking for help here.
Thanks
George
