when I press
F1 then I get some help 
but I miss the blue background

you shall add:
color_set( 6, NULL);
attron(A_REVERSE);

for ( i = x1 ;  ( i <= x2) ; i++)
for ( j = y1 ;  ( i <= y2) ; j++)
  mvaddch( j , i , ' ');

you ought to do that before 

you may have other methods, ?


if I have a line of 12 (rows) then 
it does not work

you shall add a scrollbar

with 

ACS arrow up / down and a mouse controll

it might take one hour really maximum
