I love those challenges. Well, my profession is to interpret those
precise bugreports like a clairvoyant. (It's a farce ;-(

I guess you have pulseaudio installed. Remove it and test again.

Boot your machine or whatever you have and run as root:

# aplay -l
# aplay -L
# lsmod | grep snd

if sound doesn't work try:

# service alsa-utils restart
# alsactl init

and send all, yes all, the output to 741949 at bugs.debian.org. Then
I'll tell you what the future of your system will be ;-)
