No, I just checked over SSH. Logging over the TTY, the sound does work.

Running the process under strace it turns out to be a permission problem.

```
$ strace aplay -l # over SSH
[…]
open("/dev/snd/controlC0", O_RDONLY|O_CLOEXEC) = -1 EACCES (Permission
denied)
[…]
$ ls -l /dev/snd/controlC0
crw-rw----+ 1 root audio 116, 2 Dec 20 10:14 /dev/snd/controlC0
$ sudo aplay -l
crw-rw----+ 1 root audio 116, 2 Dec 20 10:14 /dev/snd/controlC0
$ strace aplay -l # over SSH, after logging in in “local” session
open("/dev/snd/controlC0", O_RDWR|O_CLOEXEC) = 3
fcntl(3, F_SETFD, FD_CLOEXEC)           = 0
ioctl(3, SNDRV_CTL_IOCTL_PVERSION, 0x7ffcce69b764) = 0
ioctl(3, SNDRV_CTL_IOCTL_PCM_INFO, 0x7ffcce69b940) = 0
```

So the permissions of the file haven’t changed, but the user is allowed
to access the device. Very strange.
