Not that much. It depends on your soundcard....

Well I can't reproduce your behaviour. I have a machine running only
libasound2, libasund2-data and alsa-utils. The sound card settings
are restored by the systemd services. And I have a clean environment
with no .asoundrc or /etc/alsa settings.

You can check your installation with:

$ dpkg -l | egrep '(alsa|libasound|pulsea)'
