[Pkg-alsa-devel] Blocker: Realtek ALC4080 USB no line input / front headphone output

Dear Alsa maintainers,

after upgrading my hardware, which is now based on an AMD X570 chipset,
with a Realtek ALC4080 USB sound chip, I get no analog audio line/mic
input, although the chip obviously recognizes the plugged-in connector
(e. g. "Line in USB Audio", in case the rear jack connector on the mobo
itself is used, or "Microphone USB audio", if the front jack connector
is used).

Thus, I currently cannot record any external audio with my hardware
(I've not tested TOS link yet, but its not compatible to the audio
device I'd like to use, anyway).

Also, the main (rear, mobo) line out is working and displayed as
"Speakers USB audio" in the cinnamon mixer; a front-connected
(headphone) jack will be recognized, but I gain no output from it.

lsusb just lists a "Micro Star International USB Audio" device, no codec
information, nor does alsamixer, wich only shows "USB audio".
The cinnamon audio mixer will report the device as ICE958 for the
Digital output S/PDIF USB audio profile.

Weird:
If the digital output is chosen, the input meter will show an incoming
signal, but not if the "Ellesmere HDMI Audio / Radeon RX 580" output is
selected (where I get audio output from, too). When I e. g. connect a
headphone on the rear out jack connector, the front-connected
"Microphone USB audio" or "Line in USB audio" meter in the cinnamon
mixer will show a signal, too.

My old mobo with ALC8xx will work just fine with the same input signal.

I'd expect any line or headphone out signal put into either line in or
mic to be routed to the corresponding line out or headphone out (or any
other audio sink chosen from the mixer).

The cinnamon mixer showing "Line in" signal, when a working output
device is connected, might or might not point to a faulty signal
routing. Maybe it's also a driver problem.

Either way, I can't get any input from the analog audio input jack
connectors, neither front or rear and also no audio output from the
front jack, although cinnamon mixer shows them as plugged-in.

I've also tested a random USB headset, where I can get mic input from.

Best regards,
yuki
