Thank you for your answer Elimar.
It seems, that i haven't wrote my bug report porperly. Sound settings
work perfect in both kde and gnome. System sound are played as they
should play. Also my sound software (audacity) works as it should. The
bug i'm experiencing is, that any sound that is playing is distorted by
a crackling noise as soon as something happens on the screen, like
opening a new window, or even just moving the cursor in a terminal
window or on the console after switching to it with ctrl+alt+f1. These
sounds are heard as well, if no sound application is running at all
besides the alsa sound-system and pulse audio sound server.
I would certainly call this a bug (or at least a configuration problem)
of debians sound system. It resembles pretty much the well known
windows xp's sound bug, where animated windows distort sounds as well.
So i don't think, that the closure of this bug is right. I can't say if
alsa is causing this behaviour or pulse audio or any other component,
but i thought, that the alsa-base package might be the best starting
point for reporting this issue. If you need further explanation or if i
could do any tests, i would be happy to provide them to you.
A crackling or white noise sound is present whenever an animation
is shown on the screen. Animation is to be understood as animation
in the widest sense. Even on console, if the cursor is moved, a
noise is audible. It also applies to mouse movements both on gnome
or kde 4. I've tried disabling pulseaudio server, without any
effect. The sound hardware is discovered correctly as nvidia mcp65
on board-sound. Before upgrading the system to debian squeeze, it
was running debian etch without any sound issues. So i don't think
it is a hardware related problem (like electrical field noise
inside the box).
Although it seems related to the graphics system, i'm attaching
the output of lspci | grep vga below: 02:00.0 VGA compatible
controller: nVidia Corporation G73 [GeForce 7300 GT] (rev a1)

I suppose you're looking for help but didn't found a bug in
alsa-base, isn't it? Check your gnome and kde specific soundsettigs.
I assume the systemsounds don't work perfect. For this you can find
help from experienced kde and gnome users at debian-users mailing
list. A first step could be to start alsamixer and set one control
after the other to zero and check wether the noise persists or not.
I'll close this bug as it seems not to be alsa related anyway. Alsa
doesn't provide gaphic systems or systemsound issues, though.
