That's probably caused by a change in the syslog log format, which
resulted in libapparmor not recognizing the line as AppArmor-related.
The good news is that this is fixed upstream - aa-notify of AppArmor
2.9.1 should work with the new syslog format.
aa-logprof and aa-genprof need an additional fix - unfortunately we
noticed this after the 2.9.1 release, so you'll have to pull it from the
2.9 bzr branch or wait for 2.9.2.
And, as you already wrote, everything just works if you use auditd ;-)
