No objection, sounds like a good idea.

If we do this, for consistency we should probably also grant read
access to the user configuration (~/.libao), e.g.:

  owner @{HOME}/.libao r,

Do you want to submit a merge request upstream, that implements this
proposal? Happy to review it upstream before cherry-picking for Debian.
