Oh yes, I know this feeling.
To confirm that you are right:
/var/log/wtmp has a different binary format on some architectures (I'm
aware of aarch64 and s390x), which means we'll need to somehow make
aa-notify -l ("events since last login") somehow arch-specific.
I'm not yet sure how to solve that in a sane way, but in worst case that
little detail could make aa-notify arch-specific. (Currently aa-notify
does its own parsing of /var/log/wtmp, so either we adjust that
depending on the architecture, or we use a python module that is made
for reading /var/log/wtmp and gives us a sane result everywhere.)
