I would be extremely reluctant to diverge from upstream on this. I'm
tempted to close this bug, but it should certainly be wishlist.
Perhaps you might want to file a bug against upstream:

This is actually easily adjustable if you want to recompile the
package your self. Take a look in src/defaults.c
