Sure, the comparison was only between the development and development2
branches.

Yes, this removes useless code and is anyway already in master:

I will reply only at your first "why NO" question ;-)

Basically, I checked all the commits in "common" between the development
and development2 branches, with the following answers:

- "OK" if the commits were exactly the same WRT to the diff (commit ID
  differences are not a problem).

- "NO" if the commits were completely different.

- "NO (but OK)" if the commits were different, but in the end the
  differences were minimal or related to previous commits.

As you can see, I did not consider at all if the commits were already
merged or not, this was already done in the past and actually mostly by
you:
