I just uploaded the backport to
http://pkg-bazaar.alioth.debian.org/etch-backports/.

Team pkg-bazaar, I placed signed changes files there, to which only the
team pkg-bazaar has access. Feel free to upload them to bpo in case I
forget about them, but not before the packages actually transitioned to
testing.
