Woo! Thanks Jelmer, I've wanted this for a while.

I've merged your branch and added a short note to the docs.

I also changed it so that when building from a remote branch it
uses ./build-area/ for everything, unless told otherwise in
~/.bazaar/builddeb.conf, which should hopefully stop anyone
getting any nasty surprises when it overwrites their files.

I also kept the behaviour that it would chdir to the branch for
local branches, otherwise relative directories would be resolved
wrong.
