When I run any of the folowing, I get progress output appropriate for a TTY:

BZR_PROGRESS_BAR=none bzr commit
BZR_PROGRESS_BAR=dots bzr commit
BZR_PROGRESS_BAR=none bzr missing

This does not look good under emacs :-(.
